Two Works: (i) HENRI MATISSE (FRENCH, 1869-1954). 'Arbre en Fleur' (Flowering Tree). 1949. Screenprint in colors on canvas. Signed with 'MS' in plate lower left (for 'Mural-Scrolls, as issued). (ii) ROBERTO MATTA (CHILELAN, 1911-2002). 1949. 'Sun Dice'. Screenprint in colors on canvas. Signed and titled in plate lower right. Titled lower left in plate. Note: from Mural Scrolls: 'Calder, Matisse, Matta, Miró', published by Katzenbach and Warren, Inc., NY. 1949. From an edition of 200. These are two of four silk screens created for Katzenback and Warren, Inc as part of a promotional portfolio which were made to show potential customers their intended limited edtion series of large scrolls. It seems these large scrolls (sit to ten feet by four to six feet) were either never completed or produced in exceedlingly small numbers. Property from a Larchmont, NY estate.
