Venice Canal'. Oil on canvas board. Signed lower right. Note: Balk was a noted Polish stage designer and painter. He was the father of the lyric poet and literary critic Henryk Balk (1901-1941). He lived and work in Lviv. From 1895 he designed decorations for Lviv theaters. At the international exhibition of theatrical scenery in Rome in 1913, he was awarded a gold medal for decorations to operas by Richard Wagner. Property of a Fairfield, CT estate.
