INSIDE PAINTED GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, SIGNED RONGJIU

Of flattened oval form. One side depicting a landscape with a dedication inscription, the other depicting two lovers in a courtyard, signed Rongjiu (Bi Rongjiu, 1874-1925), and cyclically dated 1903. Both scenes enclosed in a black overlay cartouche. The two narrows sides with carved mythical beast handles in black overlay. Jadeite stopper. H. 7.5 cm Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiquities. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
