Of flattened ovoid form. Decorated with a petal shaped cartouche of a Buddha hand citron and florals in famille rose enamel on one side, and blossoming florals and butterflies on the other. Lacquer stopper. Qing dynasty, Qianlong period, 1736-1795. H. 6.5 cm Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiquities. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
