RED OVERLAY WHITE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE

Of flattened oval form. Carved in a rosy ruby red overlay to a milky white ground. Two narrow sides with carved mythical beast handles. H. 6 cm Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiquities. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
