Of flattened ovoid form. Carved in cinnabar red overlay to a white ground, with a crane and plum blossoms on one side, and a deer and pine trees on the other. Qing dynasty, 18th century. H. 5.5 cm Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiquities. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
