Of flattened baluster form. The body moulded and carved in openwork with a dragon and a phoenix chasing a pearl on a wispy cloudy ground. Overall glazed cobalt blue. Glass stopper. Qing dynasty, 18th century. H. 8.5 cm Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiques. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
