Of flattened ovoid form. Carved in a cinnabar red overlay to the opaque white ground, depicting archaistic kuilong motifs on both sides. Jadeite stopper. Qing dynasty, c. 1800. H. 6.5 cm Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiques. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
