Of flattened ovoid form, one side carved with a kingfisher holding an orchid branch, the reverse plain. Jadeite stopper. Qing dynasty, Qianlong period, 1736-1795. H. 6 cm Exhibited at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, in Prized Possessions From PrivateHomes, October to December 1968. Snuff Bottle Collection of John Mckeggie Rogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Torontobrokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiquities. He started collecting snuff bottles in the 1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
