Of tapered rectangular form. The body carved with two meiren (beauty) in flowy robes on a vaporous cloud ground in high relief. Four-character Qianlong mark and of theperiod. Matching stopper. Qing dynasty, Qianlong period, 1736-1795. H. 5.5 cmExhibited at the Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto, in Prized Possessions From Private Homes, October to December 1968. Snuff Bottle Collection of John MckeggieRogers (1905-1977) He was a senior partner of the Toronto brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse. He was a great collector of antiquities. He started collecting snuff bottles in the1940's alongside his friend Ken Thompson whose collection now resides in the AGO.
