The God of fishermen and fortune (one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune), Ebisu is depicted in typical fashion holding a fishing rod in his right hand and a fish with his left arm, standing on a rock. A first-class sculpture from the Showa period that showcasing Kazan?s unparalleled aesthetic sense, with Ebisu portrayed with a realistic, gentle expression. With signed tomobako wooden box. 43cm tall x 28cm wide x 23cm deep. Weight 8kg.Yokokura Kazan was a highly celebrated sculptor based in Yamagata Prefecture who earned widespread domestic and international acclaim. His major accolades include the 1958 Minister for International Trade and Industry Prize, a Grand Prix at the 1959 Brussels World Exposition, and the Tokusen and Hokuto prizes at the 1959 Nitten Exhibition. Following his receipt of the 6th Saito Mokichi Memorial Award in 1960, he regularly exhibited at the Japan Modern Arts and Crafts Exhibition from 1961 to 1965. Recognising his global appeal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs selected five of his works for international touring exhibitions across the US, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as the Berlin International Art Festival. 品相： In good overall condition with no signs of damage or repairs.
