A CHINESE QINGBAI GLAZED PORCELAIN DISH IN KILN SAGGAR, NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY (AD 960 ? 1127).

A finely potted lobed dish coated in a pale blue qingbai glaze of good colour. The glaze is crackled in places and there is some kiln grit embedded within the glaze. The outer wall of the saggar has a thick dark brown ash glaze, probably accumulated over multiple firings. Total 17.5cm diam. Northern Song Dynasty Qingbai porcelain was fired individually in saggars (the fireproof clay case) that were stacked on top of each other in the kiln. If the temperature became too hot the porcelain items could warp and sag, becoming fused to the saggar as has happened here. 品相： No sign of repair or restoration. Some crazing and hairlines to the porcelain. Two slight chips to edge of the saggar.
