Saudi Arabian 20th Cent. Kiswah fragment (qandeel) made for the Holy Ka'ba, embroidered in gilt and silver-plated metal thread on a black silk ground. The rectangular panel features a central cartouche inscribed in thuluth script, surrounded by intricate arabesque motifs With an inscription from Surah al-Nur (24:35): "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth". SAOEDI-ARABIË - 20° EEUW Kiswah-fragment (qandeel) vervaardigd voor de Heilige Ka'aba, geborduurd met vergulde en verzilverde metaaldraad op een zwarte zijden ondergrond.
