拍品描述

Four Chinese white-glazed boxes and covers with incised floral design from the Jepara shipwreck, Dehua or Anxi kiln, Song Dia.:ca. 8,5 cm A group of ceramics from the Jepara wreck, Southern Song dynasty (1127–1279). Discovered off the north coast of Central Java in 1998, the Jepara wreck yielded over 10,000 ceramic pieces, including celadon dishes, kendi and tableware produced at Fujian kilns for overseas export. Coins inscribed jianyan confirm a date within the reign of Emperor Gaozong (1127–1162). The cargo testifies to the scale of Fujian’s ceramic trade through the port of Quanzhou, the largest maritime hub of the Song–Yuan period.
