Three Japanese Compressed Globular Tea Caddies, Chaire, 17th/18th Century and Later The first with grey-brown body burned brown, granular brown glaze with ochre splashes, Underside with Warren Cox, New York label, inscribed "P.B. 10/12/55 #61, Seto 18th cent"; the second of finer, darker brown paste with more opaque brown glaze, beige to brown splashes, with a note inscribed "Skinner #244 Late 17th c Owari Tokagure Kiln", later turned wood cover; the third, likely 20th Century, of a pale paste, the dark brown glaze with mottled beige splash, resin cover. Diameter of largest 3 1/2 in., 9 cm. Property from a private collection, Rockville, Maryland. This lot is located in Philadelphia. Provenance: Col. Martin L.
