Three Japanese Tea Caddies, Chaire, with Shifuku, One Double Box, and a Bamboo Scoop, The first Chaire 16th Century The first of slightly tapered cylindrical form with rounded base and shoulder, the greyish-brown body burnt red-brown, the mottled slightly transparent mottled brown glaze pooling to black, accompanied by an inscribed double box with shifuku, the second of ovoid form with russet body burned brown, mottled warm brown and black glaze, accompanied by a Warren Cox, New York label inscribed "Imo shape Seto 18th..."; the third of pale grey body, cylindrical form with beveled foot and katatsuki style (shouldered) neck, with shifuku and note: "Mino 1610-15 Skinner lot # 238", the bamboo scoop curved. Scoop length 7 1/2 in., 19 cm. Property from a private collection, Rockville, Maryland. This lot is located in Philadelphia. Provenance: Col. Martin L.
