Ding Yanyong (Chinese, 1902-1978) 丁衍庸（1902-1978) Three unmounted works, Ink and color on paper, comprising: -Boy on a Water Buffalo Returning Home, inscribed, dedicated to Meilan Nvdi, signed and with one seal to upper left and side -Fisherman and Scholar (with Woman and Dog), titled Yu Du Tu, dedicated to Meilan Nvdi, dated to a bingchen year (1976), signed and with one seal to upper left and side -Three Heroes, titled Feng Chen San Xia, dedicated to Meilan Nvdi, dated to a bingchen year (1976), signed and with one seal to upper left and side 32 x 13 3/4 in.; 81.5 x 35 cm.;27 1/2 x 20 in., 70 x 50.8 cm.; 21 1/2 x 19 1/2 in., 54.5 x 49.5 cm. Property from an important American Collection This lot is located in Philadelphia. Property from an important American Collection, gifted from the artist in 1975-1976. In 1975 and 1976, the collector, an American photographer, and her husband worked in Hong Kong on an artist’s grant and fellowship study respectively. The American artist soon became one of Ding's first Western pupils. Ding gave her the Chinese sobriquet 'Meilan' or 'Beautiful Orchid', and this name appears as part of the dedication on many works.
