Two Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Snuff Bottles, 18th Century 清中期 剔紅鼻烟壺兩支 -The first: circa 1780-1860, cinnabar lacquer of spade form, with a flat lip, cylindrical neck and protruding oval footrim, the body finely and deeply carved to depict, on the main sides, a phoenix in flight amidst clouds, the narrow sides with elongated rocky promontories, the neck encircled with pendant acanthus leaves; probably Imperial -The second: Second half 18th century. Cinnabar lacquer of flattened circular form, the shoulders sloping to an extremely short lipped neck, with a concave lip and shallow protruding oval footrim, the body superbly carved to depict six peaches of immortality amidst leafy flowering vines against a diaper ground, the original stopper carved with the seventh peach.
