From an old South German private collection, acquired on 4 April 1997 at Dhoomi Mal Art Centre, New Delhi R. B. Bhaskaran was born in Chennai in 1942 and studied painting at the Government College of Arts & Crafts in Madras from 1960 to 1966. He was part of the Madras Art Movement of the 1960s. Since the 1980s, he has held important offices such as Honorary Secretary of the Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai in 1987, Director of the College of Art, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu in 1995 and apex member of the committee of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. Aus einer alten süddeutschen Privatsammlung, am 4. April 1997 bei Dhoomi Mal Art Centre, New Delhi, erworben R. B. Bhaskaran wurde 1942 in Chennai geboren und studierte von 1960 bis 1966 Malerei am Government College of Arts & Crafts in Madras. Er war Teil des Madras Art Movement der 1960er Jahre. Seit den 1980er Jahren hatte er wichtige Ämter inne wie z. B. Ehrensekretär der Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai 1987, Direkot des College of Art, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu 1995 sowie Spitzenmitglied des Ausschusses der National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
