A FINE WOOD NETSUKE OF A SARUMAWASHI WITH MONKEY Japan, signed Masaharu, 19th c. H. 7,6 cm Finely carved as a standing monkey trainer, holding his cane in his right hand, wearing a robe with finely incised folds, a small basket tied to his belt, his large bag tied around his shoulders, his monkey seated on his right shoulder, striking a cheeky pose. The monkey trainer with a humorous face expression smiling with his mouth wide open. The back with two asymmetrical himotoshi, next to the signature. From a German private collection, assembled from the 1960s until 2007 - Former Albert Brockhaus Collection, no. 554, mentioned in: Albert Brockhaus, Netsuke, Leipzig, 1909, p. 407 and 222 and in MCI, The Meinertzhagen Card Index on Netsuke in the Archives of the Brititsh Museum, p. 411 - Minor wear, the feet replaced, one tiny chip Feines Netsuke eines Sarumawashi mit seinem Affen aus Holz Japan, signiert in Siegelschrift: Masaharu, 19. Jh. H. 7,6 cm Detailliert geschnitzte Darstellung eines stehenden Affentrainers, in seiner rechten Hand einen Stock haltend. Ihn kleidet eine Robe mit bewegtem Faltenwurf, an seinem Gürtel wurde ein kleiner Korb befestigt und um seine Schultern gebunden trägt er seine große Tasche. Auf seiner rechten Schulter sitzt ein kleiner Affe mit verschmitzten Gesichtsausdruck. Der Affentrainer mit humorvollem Gesichtsausdruck lacht mit weit geöffnetem Mund. Auf der Rückseite asymmetrisch angeordnete Himotoshi, neben der eingeritzten Signatur in Siegelschrift. Aus einer deutschen Privatsammlung, seit den 1960er Jahren bis 2007 gesammelt - Ehemals Sammlung Albert Brockhaus, Nr. 554, erwähnt in: Albert Brockhaus, Netsuke, Leipzig, 1909, S. 407 und 222 und in MCI, The Meinertzhagen Card Index on Ntetsuke in the Archives of the Brititsh Museum, S. 411 - Minim. berieben, die Füße erg., eine kleine Best.
