A polychrome painted porcelain sculpture of Budai China, marked "4 er jiu" (4 two nine), 20th c. H. 31,5 cm The laughing Budai sits on the floor in a relaxed posture, his left leg raised. With his left hand he grasps the prayer chain, his right rests on his thigh and clasps the characteristic sack. His figure is loosely draped in an opulent robe with geometric and floral patterns. The right shoulder as well as his chest and stomach are bare. Budai's mouth, open to laughter, is crimson in colour, while his cheeks and chest are pinkish. Mit der linken Hand umgreift er die Gebetskette, die rechte ruht auf seinem Schenkel und umgreift den chrakteristischen Sack. Seine Figur ist locker in ein opulentes Gewand mit geometrischen und floralen Mustern gehüllt. Die rechte Schulter ebenso wie seine Brust und sein Bauch sind dabei entblößt.
