拍品描述

A PAIR OF CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE VASES, QING DYNASTY (1644–1911) Of baluster form with broad shoulders and flaring necks, this impressive pair of famille rose vases is richly enamelled in vibrant tones of pink, turquoise, yellow, green, and cobalt blue. Each vase is decorated with large shaped panels enclosing lively figural scenes, framed by scrolling lotus, fruiting sprays, and geometric diaper borders. The principal reserves depict courtly gatherings and narrative scenes, with elegantly robed figures arranged within architectural and garden settings. The compositions are animated and finely detailed, with expressive faces and carefully rendered garments heightened in famille rose enamels. Surrounding these panels are bands of stylised lotus scrolls, ruyi-head borders, and key-fret motifs in bright enamels, creating a dense yet harmonious decorative scheme. Smaller panels to the necks contain additional figural subjects, continuing the narrative theme and balancing the larger scenes below. The shoulders are set with moulded mask handles, picked out in red enamel, adding sculptural interest and reinforcing the symmetrical pairing. The vivid palette and elaborate surface ornament exemplify the decorative richness associated with Qing dynasty famille rose porcelain, where technical refinement and pictorial storytelling combine to striking effect. Height: 58cm
