A CHINESE BLUE & WHITE LANDSCAPE DISH, YONGZHENG (1723-1735) The dish is of circular form, painted in underglaze blue with a finely arranged landscape scene. The composition centres on a pavilion set among rockwork, pine and willow, with further landscape elements and aquatic plants extending across the well. The reverse is plain, with a recessed foot and pale glazed surface. The decoration is executed with a lively use of line and wash, characteristic of blue and white porcelain of the period. Architectural details, trees, rocks and water are rendered with fluid brushwork, creating a sense of depth and movement within the shallow circular field. Made during the Yongzheng period, the dish reflects the Qing taste for elegant, carefully balanced porcelain decoration. Its landscape subject evokes the cultivated ideal of retreat, nature and scholarly leisure, while the restrained palette gives the scene clarity and refinement. Diameter: 23.2cm
