拍品描述

A CELADON CRACKLE GLAZE FIGURE OF A GENERAL, MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) The figure is modelled standing on a rectangular plinth, wearing layered robes and armour-like dress, the hands held together at the front in a formal pose. The face is sternly rendered beneath a head covering, with long side panels falling over the shoulders, giving the figure a dignified martial appearance. The surface is covered in a pale celadon glaze with an extensive crackle network throughout. Areas of russet staining and kiln speckling appear across the face, robes and base, adding depth to the glaze and emphasizing the age of the piece. The underside is unglazed, exposing the reddish ceramic body, with an old paper collection label attached. The figure shows age-related wear, including glaze crazing, surface deposits, firing irregularities and losses or abrasions around the base, consistent with its age and material. Height: 22 cm
