Philbert de Trappier: 'The Penitent Magdalene', reverse glass painting, France, signed and dated 1648-49 Dim.: 35,8 x 31 cm (the frame) Dim.: 25,5 x 20,5 cm (the work) The scene is directly copied froma 1609engraving by Willem van Swanenburgh (1580-1612), 'The Penitent Magdalene', after a design by the Utrecht master Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) (see last image). Provenance: - A private French collection, by descent to the current owner.
