A silver inscribed filigree casket, probably Dutch East Indies, 19/20th C. Dim.: 14 x 10 x 7,5 cm Weight: 385 grams Inscribed 'July 13, 1959. 50th anniversary Mr. E.L.C Schiff. R. Azouz.' The casket was presented in 1959 to Emile L.C. Schiff (1918-2000), a Dutch diplomat and senior civil servant. Schiff played an important role in post-war Dutch diplomacy and served as the first Dutch ambassador to Indonesia following the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
