Andries Dirk Copier (1901–1991): four Art Deco Graniver cactus pots, the Netherlands, 1930s Dia.: 12,7 cm - H.: 12,3 cm (the tallest) Dia.: 10,7 cm - H.: 4 cm (the smallest) In 1922, the Leerdam Glass Factory developed a new material called Graniver. Initially intended for architectural purposes, its potential applications in the production of tableware were also explored. In the end, however, the material proved especially suitable for flowerpots, which were designed by A.D. Copier (1901-1991) in 1928 and 1929. The material turned out to be highly successful: it was strong, easy to work with, and could be coloured with ease.
