Ink and colour on silk. Portraying a high-ranking noble woman, with a distinguished face, meticulously drawn, dressed in the formal manchu ceremonial outfit (chaofu) consisting of a cape (pi ling) blue silk dragon court robe (choupao), finely embroidered with dragons in gold threads. Wearing three ceremonial strands of beads hung around her neck, two of the diagonally across her chest and a long white silk kerchief hanging down from the elaborate collar. She wears a court hat, with three golden placques with pearl inlay, surmounted by a gilt bronze, ruby inlayed finial, her elbows resting gently on each side of what seems to be a horse shoe back armchair draped with silk, sitting on a colourful rug. Measure motif 95x165 cm. Measure with frame 107x178 cm. Wear, stains.
