PROPERTY SOLD TO BENEFIT THE EGMONT TRUST, SUPPORTING FAMILIES IMPACTED BY HIV AND POVERTY IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA woodblock print, from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (Fugaku sanjurokkei), signed Hokusai Iitsu hitsu (Brush of Hokusai Iitsu), published by Nishimuraya Yohachi (Eijudo), circa 1832, blue outline Horizontal oban: 25.5 x 37.6 cm, 10 by 14¾ in. The Tamagawa [lit. Jewel River] in Musashi Province is shown partially illuminated by hazy light filtering through the clouds above. A boat, steered by an oarsman at the helm, carries passengers huddled in the prow towards the opposite bank, beyond which a snow-capped Mount Fuji rises majestically from a band of suyarigasumi [lit. 'spear mist']. In the foreground, a solitary man pauses at the river's edge as his horse bows its head to drink.
