PROPERTY FROM A GERMAN PRIVATE COLLECTION Height 8.5 cm, 3⅜ in. The composite image depicts Vishnu as Narayana combined with his consort Lakshmi, with Narayana as the right half holding his attributes of flaming discus, mace, conch shell and lotus flower and Lakshmi as the left half holding the vase, mirror, lotus and manuscript. Compare the jewellery and lotus pedestal style with a Nepalese gilt-copper Vasudhara dated 1466 in Jan van Alphen, Cast for Eternity: Bronze Masterworks from India and the Himalayas in Belgian and Dutch Collections, Antwerp, 2004, pl. 39.
