A gilt-splashed bronze hu-form vase, 17th / 18th century

the base with an apocryphal six-character Xuande mark within a recessed rectangle inscribed in ink Hatoun no. 8, Jan 8 1904, Env. 6. Height 17.2 cm, 6¾ in. The pair to this vase, from the collection of Sir Leon Bagrit (1902-1979), was sold in our London rooms, 16th May 2018, lot 146. Compare also a similar gilt-splashed vase with two mask and ring handles preserved in the Bristol City Art Gallery.
